Song Pret 送祖先祭祖法会 Tentatively Cancelled

Above festival fall on the 10th month of Thai Lunar Calendar every year. Buddhists believe that during this period, spirits of our departed ancestors who are suffering in PRET realm will return to the human world seeking for merits from their living relatives. During this month, relatives are performing meritorious acts, chanting and transferring merits to their departed ancestors. According to the Buddha’s teaching, the duty of transferring merits to parents and other relatives falls on living members of the family. Thus Buddhists undertake to follow different religious functions to transfer merits to the departed so that they may be well and happy.

以上节是泰国佛教节日之一。每年泰历十月，全国上下将热烈庆祝这一传统节日。

佛教徒相信该节日是祖先显灵，回到阳界向在世的亲人索取功德的好日子。这一个月，佛教徒出钱出力，到处积德行善、诵佛经和举行各种法会，目的就是把这一切的功德回向给往生的先人。

根据佛祖的教诲，在世的亲人回向功德给往生的亲人是功德无量的。因此，全国各佛教寺院届时都做仪式，如守戒、听经、诵经、讲道、布施等，为在世的亲人行个方便，以求让往生的先人早日脱离苦海，登极乐世

界。
